"It is reality that awakens possibilities, and nothing would be more perverse than to deny it. Even so, it will always be the same possibilities, either in sum or on the average, that go on repeating themselves until a man comes along who does not value the actuality over the idea. It is he who first gives the new possibilities their meaning, their directions, and he awakens them."
- Robert Musil, The Man Without Qualities
"The truth will set you free. But not until it is done with you."
- David Foster Wallace
Our sexuality is so complex - of the most complex, fundamental, and all-encompassing of our traits - that there seems no end to it, to its variety, to the way it gives and sometimes saps our vitality. It is Eros, the one god that definitely dwells in us.
There is a class of people - a personality group - that wants a narrow, controlled sexuality, and is quick to judge. I suspect the complexity and chaos of this god scares them.
Are you scared of what’s in you, that you can’t define, understand, or control - of the Eros in you?
